The brand was inspired by the countless fairy tales that I've read and watched. I live fairy tales, and I love having the chance to combine fairy tales with makeup. There are a lot of lesser-known stories that I like more than some of the tales I've chosen, but I felt that the stories needed to be more familiar, so that the women in my target market could relate more to the characters, and not have to really go research fairy tale lore.

Cinderella
The fairy tale: Cinderella is used a servant by her cruel stepmother and stepsisters, and gets her revenge by attending a ball that she was forbidden to attend. She dances with the prince, and ends up losing her little slipper, which the prince finds and eventually uses to locate her. Cinderella then marries the prince, and her stepmother and stepsisters have their eyes pecked out by birds.
Her dresses are purple and blue (in the story, Cinderella actually attends the ball more than once), and her symbol is either a slipper or a tiara. Her colors are blues, purples and pinks. Her shoot will take place in the Botanical Gardens, in the formal rose garden and around the reflecting pool.

The Swan Maiden
The fairy tale: A beautiful young woman or princess is transformed by magic into a swan. A young man, usually a prince, finds her and rescues her from the enchantment.

Megan will be the Swan Maiden. The shoot will take place in City Park, along the river and around some of the more decorative bridges. There are many resident swans, and I will attempt to persuade them to visit near the photo shoot. Megan's dress will be white, but I have not yet found the right dress for her. Her symbol will be a swan, a feather or a tiara. Her colors are whites and silvers.

The fairy tale: A princess is born and doomed to an enchanted sleep for 100 years after her 15th birthday. After 100 years has passed with many young men trying to rescue her, a prince finally breaks through the enchantment surrounding her palace, and awakens her. The tale is actually called "Briar Rose" due to the roses that protect the princess while she sleeps.

Death and the Maiden/12 Dancing Princesses
The fairy tale: In art and in mythology, there are always stories of beautiful young women going to live with death personified, or with a man who will steal their youth/beauty/money by murdering them. The 12 Dancing Princesses is a story about 12 sisters who dance with death every night in an enchanted subterranean world. They are rescued by a soldier (they are enchanted also and don't realize that they are dancing with death), who follows them one night on the king's orders.

The plan is to have Laura as "the maiden" whom death is pursuing. Her dress is black velvet. Her colors are golds, blacks, and whites. Her symbol is a mask (I have decided that the dance will be a masquerade). You can see the mask here: http://mysticdream325.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d357p4s
Death will be a male model with a venetian mask (just decided on this last week so now I have to cast the part).
The shoot will take place very early in the morning on November 6th in the circular pavilion (see scouting location post), and I plan on also shooting video.

The fairy tale: A beautiful young woman is forced to go live with a hideous beast through her father's mistake. She eventually learns that he is really an enchanted prince, and they live happily ever after. This particular tale has so many versions that there is more to choose from regarding story line and props.
Sarah will be the Beauty. Her symbol is the handheld mirror (there is an enchanted mirror in several of the versions), and her colors are golds and ambers.

Snow White
The fairy tale: A beautiful young princess is ordered to be killed by her jealous stepmother, and escapes to the forest, where she is taken in by stunted little men. The jealous stepmother finds out that she is still alive and turns herself into a hag using magic, and then poisons Snow White with an apple. Snow White is rescued eventually by a prince.
She will be wearing the black and white dress, and her symbol is the apple. Her colors are black, white, and reds.
The specific shot I want from her involves attaching an antique golden oval mirror to a tree, and photographing her face reflected in it from slightly above her, and behind (I have already accounted for a ladder!). Anything else we get from the shoot is just a plus.

Rapunzel
The fairy tale (briefly): Rapunzel is trapped in a tower by an evil witch; she has very long beautiful hair that the witch climbs up every day to see Rapunzel because the tower has no doors or stairs. One day a prince sees her, falls in love with her, and eventually there is a happy ending, but not until after the witch finds out and does some wicked things to them.
